Just one hour and a half from Oporto, lies the Douro Valley, one of the most beautiful wine regions in the world. Landscapes so fabulous that they stay in the memory of those who see them. The special climate - a microclimate of its own due to the mountain range that protects it from the rain-laden winds blowing from the Atlantic, guarantees a climate of hot, dry summers and harsh winters.
These are the essential conditions for the production of the world famous Port Wine and make the landscapes even more beautiful, imposing and breathtaking, in any season.
UNESCO classified this region as a World Heritage Site in 2001.
The Douro Valley is thus the oldest legally demarcated wine region in the world, having been classified in 1756 and the only wine-producing area in the world to practice warm-climate hillside viticulture
